  • Coin Images: Photos you take for identification (processed in real-time, not permanently stored)

AI Processing

When you scan a coin, the image is sent to OpenAI's servers for identification and analysis. This processing happens in real-time to provide you with coin identification, grading estimates, and value information. The images are processed according to OpenAI's privacy policy and data handling practices. We do not permanently store your coin images on our servers.

iCloud Data Storage

Your coin collection data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This means:

  • Your collection data is private and syncs only to your own Apple devices
  • We do not have access to your collection data – it's stored entirely in your iCloud account
  • Your data remains available even when offline
  • Automatic backup ensures you never lose your collection

Apple's iCloud is subject to Apple's privacy policy and terms of service.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.

Crash Reporting and Performance Monitoring

To help us identify and fix bugs and improve the app's stability, we use Sentry to collect crash reports, performance data, and diagnostic information when the app encounters errors or performance issues. This data includes technical information such as your device type, operating system version, and stack traces showing what the app was doing when an error occurred. This information is not used for tracking your activity and is not linked to your personal identity. The data is processed according to Sentry's privacy policy.

Analytics and Usage Tracking

We use Amplitude to collect analytics data to understand how you use the app and improve our service. Analytics data is linked to your CloudKit User ID and includes tracking of:

  • Coin scanning activity (when you scan, which features you use)
  • Camera and gallery interactions
  • Collection management (creating collections, adding/removing coins)
  • Subscription interactions (viewing paywall, managing subscription)
  • App navigation and feature usage patterns

This data is used solely to improve the app and is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or sold to third parties. You can opt out of analytics by deleting the app and your account.

International Data Transfers

Your personal information is transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate, including:

  • OpenAI (USA) - for AI coin identification
  • Amplitude (USA) - for analytics
  • Sentry (USA) - for error tracking
  • RevenueCat (USA) - for subscription management
  • Cloudflare (global network) - for API infrastructure

These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in the UK and EU. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place through Standard Contractual Clauses and our service providers' GDPR compliance programs.

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.

This Service does not use these "cookies" explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use "cookies" to collect information and improve their services. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for the following periods:

Coin Images

Not retained - processed in real-time and immediately discarded after identification.

Coin Collection Data

Stored in your personal iCloud account and retained until you delete the data or your iCloud account. We do not have access to this data.

Rate Limiting Data

Cloudflare KV stores your daily scan counter with your CloudKit User ID. This expires automatically at midnight in your timezone (maximum 24-hour retention).

Subscription Status Cache

Cloudflare KV caches your RevenueCat subscription status for 5 minutes to reduce API calls. This expires automatically after 5 minutes.

Analytics Data

Amplitude retains analytics data for up to 2 years for service improvement and trend analysis.

Error Logs

Sentry retains error reports for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.

Account Deletion

When you delete your data via the app Settings:

  • Your iCloud data is deleted immediately
  • Rate limit counters expire within 24 hours
  • Subscription cache expires within 5 minutes
  • Analytics and error logs are retained for their standard periods (2 years / 90 days) but cannot be linked back to you after CloudKit account deletion

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. Contact us at support@identifycoin.app and we will respond within 30 days.

Right to Rectification

You can correct inaccurate personal data directly in the app by editing your coin collection information.

Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten")

You can delete all your personal data by:

  • Opening the app Settings
  • Selecting "Delete All Data"
  • Confirming deletion

This will delete your coin collection, tags, and all associated data from your iCloud account and our systems.

Right to Data Portability

You can export your coin collection data in CSV format directly from the app. This provides a machine-readable copy of your data that can be imported into other applications.

Right to Restrict Processing

You can request that we limit how we process your data. Contact us at support@identifycoin.app to discuss your requirements.

Right to Object

You have the right to object to:

  • Automated decision-making, including AI-powered coin grading and valuation (note: the app is entirely based on AI, so objecting may limit functionality)
  • Analytics tracking (you can opt out by deleting the app)

Right to Withdraw Consent

You can withdraw consent for data processing at any time by deleting the app and your data. This will stop all data collection immediately.

Right to Complain

If you believe we have not complied with data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
